Carpenter in London

Carpentry is the trade that separates a "handyman" from someone who just owns tools. Straight lines, tight mitres, scribed edges — you notice when it's done right, and you really notice when it's not.

What's included

  • Floating shelves, alcove shelving, fitted bookcases
  • Skirting boards, architraves, coving, picture rails
  • Door hanging — internal and external, locks and handles
  • Built-in wardrobes, under-stairs storage, window seats
  • Kitchen worktop cuts, end-panels, trims

How I work

I do everything from a single floating shelf to fitted alcove cupboards and window seats. Mitred architraves (not just butt joints), scribed skirting on uneven walls, doors hung to swing true with a 2mm gap all round. Hardwood, MDF, softwood, ply. Bring me your Pinterest board — I'll tell you what's realistic and build it.

Frequently asked

Can you build fitted alcove cupboards?
Yes — this is one of my favourite jobs. Made to measure for Victorian chimney breasts, painted to match your walls. Usually 2-4 days depending on complexity.
Can you hang a new door?
Yes — internal and external. Includes trimming to fit, mortising hinges, fitting latch/lock, door handles. Allow half a day per door.
Can you fix a sticking door?
Yes — small job, usually under an hour. Either planing the edge, packing hinges, or easing the frame depending on the cause.
